"Every man has a right to his opinion, but no man has a right to be wrong about his facts." (~Bernard Baruch). Here's a source of facts that will help you straighten out some unjustified opinions about Alaska Natives. Click on this title to get reliable facts: The Status of Alaska Natives Report 2004 authored by professionals at UAA Institute of Social and Economic Research (ISER, )Scott Goldsmith, Jane Angvik, Lance Howe, Alexandra Hill, and Linda Leask, with assistance from Brian Saylor and David Marshall recently published a truly valuable report. This report shows current social and economic conditions among Alaska Natives. The report is in three volumes. Volume I is the main report; Volumes II and III are tables of detailed information on Alaska Natives from the 2000 U.S. census. You can download and print the report: consider starting with a look at the Executive Summary.

why advertise the porn info on the "comment" section?

I opened up the section to read comments left, and to my utter disbelief I see "comments" left which are full of sites given to view porn! Aren't the comments approved before put on this site?

Aaah porn and spam... the scourge of blogs and forums everywhere! Of course, the most secure way to prevent this sort of thing is to require the site admin to read and approve every single comment that anyone posts. If the board gets too large, this presents a large job. I've seen blogs with so much traffic that 2 or 3 or 4 people can't read every post and comment in a 24-hour period. Here's hoping your site ever gets that large and popular, eh? Another effective way to cut back on the spam is to require everyone who posts a comment to register and log in before posting. Most of the spam you're seeing is automated anyway... there isn't a human typing on the other end! Just by blocking anonymous posts, you'll cut back on probably 80% of the junk posted by "bots." Once the forum gets too popular, either with real readers or with spam-bots, you'll need to begin policing and moderating the registrations as well... but that's a whole other lesson in board management. I've had to close down several of my websites in the past because of this same problem. My most recent venture, www.CanCanCase.com has some variable levels of security in place that (so far) have only had 1 post (out of nearly 2000) that wasn't "real user content".... Oh, and be sure to delete those junky posts ASAP! Any spam that's allowed to stay (even for a day) is exactly what the spammers want... any displaying of their links is a success for them because it gets their sites listed in the search engines. Hope this helps some! -Case PS: ANCSA.net is a wonderful resource... both for Native Alaskans and Alaskan Natives. I was just trying (unsuccessfully) to explain the base concepts of ANCSA to a few tourists, and ended up surfing here to find the basic information I needed to explain the act to the uninformed. Thanks!

If I had a dollar for every spam comment ... At the moment the spam comments are my fault for not having the time to check on the boards. My Life's been kinda hectic. They now have automated bots that sign up and then post comments , hope to take the time this weekend to add captch's and try that route to thwart them. Glad the site was of help to you. and thanks for your input
